2024 Program

Tickets are available for purchase online at no additional fee via FilmFreeway.com, or with cash at the door. All screenings will be followed by a talkback with the attending filmmakers. The films in each screening will not necessarily be shown in the order listed below. Please note: with the exception of the All-Ages screening, many of these films contain adult language and/or other adult themes and situations. Parents should please use their discretion. Thursday, May 2nd at Abandoned Building Brewery

7pm: Complicated Comedies - collected shorts

These seven excellent short films run the gamut of what the comedy genre can contain: from the absurd to the cringey, from the relatable to the discomforting — there’s even a couple of solid jump scares in here. ABB is a great place to kick off this year’s festival - especially if you happen to enjoy beer - and the pizza oven out back will be open, too! This screening will be followed by a talkback with attending filmmakers, and includes the films (not necessarily screening in this order):

Friday, May 3rd at E-Media, in Eastworks

5pm: A Conversation with Lisa Black - panel discussion + Q&A

Join Lisa Black (Co-Chair, Producers’ Guild of America - Capital Region) and Wally Marzano-Lesnevich as they discuss the ins and outs of producing independent films, from conception through distribution. This FREE event will be a master class in film production, and is a must-attend for anyone interested in how independent films get made. Light refreshments will be available in the lobby before and afterwards, and you’ll definitely want to stick around for the 7pm screening at which we’ll be showing their latest short, The Fast Track Program. Also in attendance for that screening and talkback will be the film’s writer & director Nick Wilkinson and lead actor Satomi Hofmann. Don’t miss it!

7pm: Dark & Edgy - collected shorts

Like a great cup of inky-black coffee, these shorts all pack a kick. Genre-hopping from Thriller to Sci-Fi to Horror to Comedy, each of these moody masterpieces will leave you wanting more. This screening will be followed by a talkback with attending filmmakers, and includes these films (not necessarily screening in this order):

12pm: All-Ages Show - collected shorts

The whole family will enjoy these enchanting shorts, which include several kinds of animation, kid actors, talking dragons, sea serpents, engineering mice, and magic marbles. The program will run about an hour, after which we’ll get to meet some of the attending filmmakers, ask them questions, and maybe even touch the dragons! This screening also features the work of three student filmmakers, and includes (not necessarily in this order):

2pm: Local Documentaries - collected shorts

All of these wonderful short docs were made by Massachusetts-based filmmakers, and they vary in tone from whimsical to breathtaking to inspiring to profound. If you’re interested in local film, you will not want to miss this event and the filmmaker talkback afterwards; plan to stay a little longer for that and enjoy some light refreshments between this screening and the 7pm show. 4pm: Festival meet-and-greet reception and networking event

Between the Local Documentary screening at 4pm and Women in Horror at 7pm, ArtWalk will be taking place at CitySpace. We expect that the Documentaries talkback may run long, which would be fine by us! We’ll put out some wine and cheese, so even if you can’t attend either screening please stop by for some refreshments and find out what the Easthampton Film Festival is all about. This is a great, FREE opportunity to network and meet other local filmmakers in the area.

7pm: Women in Horror - collected shorts Trailer!

Horror films have always enjoyed a devoted audience. This year, we’re celebrating female filmmakers in the genre with seven blood-chilling, women-made shorts. This selection showcases a wide range of styles: expect these films to unsettle, tickle, frighten, upset, surprise, and confound you. Wherever each makes you tingle — be it the back of your neck, your gut, or your gums — you’re going to feel them! We’re going to have a great talkback with attending filmmakers afterwards, moderated by local talent Kt Baldassaro (writer and co-director of the absolutely unforgettable Girl in the Basement), during which all of your gnawing questions will be answered. This screening will include the films (not necessarily in this order):

We close out our 2024 season with five remarkable dramatic shorts. Visually stunning, masterfully performed, and deeply affecting, these films explore a wide range of the human experience.
